Phillies’ Fans, Relax!

By Chris Pierangeli on April 9, 2012

I want to tell the fans of the Philadelphia Phillies to relax.  I understand that the Philadelphia Phillies lost the home opener today 6-2 to the Miami Marlins.  I understand that the team went 1-2 in the opening series at Pittsburgh.  I understand that the team sits at fourth place in the division with a [...]

Phillies Sign Cole Hamels, Avoid Arbitration

By Chris Pierangeli on January 17, 2012

The Philadelphia Phillies and pitcher Cole Hamels avoided arbitration after agreeing to a one-year $15 million contract today.  With the contract, Hamels became the highest-paid arbitration-eligible pitcher ever to sign a deal before being eligible for free agency.  Hamels is now set to become a free-agent in 2013, but the Phillies are still negotiating a [...]

The Yankees of the National League

By Chris Pierangeli on November 25, 2011

The Philadelphia Phillies are spending like the New York Yankees.  For years, the Yankees have spent more money than essentially every team in baseball.  The philosophy has been to spend as much money as needed in order to field the best team.  If there was a big-name free agent, the Yankees were going to sign [...]

The Future is Uncertain for Jimmy Rollins

By Chris Pierangeli on October 13, 2011

Ever since he put on a major league uniform, Jimmy Rollins has been a Philadelphia Phillie.  Rollins has worn the red and white stripes before all the other stars, such as Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard.  The franchise built a winning team around its young shortstop at the top of the [...]
