Isaiah Jones and Manny Quiles helped lead La Salle over North Penn in the season opener. Friday night’s game was Jones’ first game since the PCL championship his sophomore year. Sidelined by a torn ACL in 2016, Jones is poised for a big senior year. He was responsible for a total of 275 yards in total offense on Friday night. Junior running back Manny Quiles made his mark by rushing for 78 yards on 14 carries, and also scored 3 times. Receivers Brett Mallee and Marvin Harrison Jr. each caught a touchdown en route to the victory. After being down 28-0, the North Penn Knights rallied together and closed the gap to 28-21, led by a shift to the air from quarterback transfer Steve DePaul and star receiver Justis Henley. After the lead was cut to just seven, Jones responded by finding freshmen receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in the endzone to put the Explorers up 35-21 mid-way through the 4th quarter. After trading touchdowns in the final six minutes, the Explorers emerged victory in the first game of the season, winning 41-28. This upcoming Friday La Salle will travel to Maryland, to face nationally ranked McDonough.
