In this week’s Bob Long Sports Radio Show, Bob Long and Chris Pierangeli discussed the Penn State story, including the release of the Freeh Report, answering the questions: What was the role of the 4 men and how were each horribly wrong in their actions, what was the Board of Trustees responsibility, does the Paterno Statue and the name on the Paterno Library go away, will the NCAA get involved and give the Death Penalty, and why the media has continued to miss the mark on this story. To begin, we discussed the opening parts of the Freeh Report (Start-9:10). We then interviewed Cory Giger from 1450 ESPN Radio in State College, who was also on Outside the Lines last week. He addressed all of our big questions from a local Central PA radio host perspective (9:10-28:05). We then moved on to debate whether the Death Penalty should be implemented for Penn State (28:05-38:57), which led into our interview with Ryan Beckler of Onward State, during which we discussed the possibility of the Death Penalty as well as the many other issues involved with this story (38:57-53:40). We then debated whether the Paterno Library should be taken down (53:40-1:07:32). After the break, we re-started from the beginning of the report to describe all the major details of the case, including a piece of information that is fairly irrelevant in the case but is being overly scrutinized (1:01:15-1:43:00). We then interviewed Adam Bittner of The Daily Collegian, the Football Editor, who discussed his viewpoint on the Penn State scandal and whether the Paterno Statue should come down (FYI: a controversial viewpoint) (1:43:00-1:54:40). We closed the show with a dissection of the national media and why certain journalists should have taken no part in this story (1:54:40-Finish).
