The La Salle College High School Explorers won the PIAA AAAA State Championship on Friday with a 3-1 victory over local foe Council Rock North. Bob Long helped to call the game for 1490 WBCB in Levittown, and the audio for the game will be posted on Monday.
La Salle starter Kevin Long went all seven innings without allowing an earned run, and Mike Piscopo went 2-2, knocking in 1 runner, to lead the Explorers offensively. Tyler Kozeniewski was the team leader in runs scored with two. This was the first baseball state championship for any Philadelphia Catholic League team since it joined the PIAA in 2008. Check out the video below of the final out and ensuing celebration for the La Salle Explorers.
